Dear All,
This is Natasha Christia. I would like to share with you here what we are going to reflect and experiment upon during our first session in class tomorrow.
Our first encounter will be a forum of creative ideas around images.
We will try to map, in a creative, unconventional and personalised way, what lens-based culture, understood as image-making and image sharing is all about today.
What does producing, looking at and communicating through images entail?
What kind of criteria and resources can we use when doing photoresearch for our innovation projects?
How do you expect photoresearch to be be relevant & useful in the conceptualization of your ongoing project and in their communication strategies?
You will be asked to elaborate the replies to these questions in regards to your own group project and practice, but to also provide input to the other groups about their projects.
Please, bring along your individual (non-transferable, due to Covid-19 regulations) marker pens, pencils (b&W, color) for the idea boards we are going to create.
See you tomorrow December 11 at 16.00 in Elisava!
Natasha
Erik Kessels. 24hrs of Photos.
We’re exposed to an overload of images nowadays. This glut is in large part of the result of image-sharing sites like Flickr, networking sites like Facebook and Instagram and picture-based search engines. Their contact mingles the public and private, with the very personal being openly displayed. By printing 350.000 images, uploaded in a twenty-four hours period, the feeling of drowning in representations of other peoples’ experiences is visualized.
